Schools back after the Summer

The summer holidays are nearly over then! It’s been a tiring but most enjoyable time with the boys over the holidays but is it bad to now want to get back into a routine of work and school runs. I honestly think the boys now need it, but I’m sure once I’m back in work regularly I’ll miss our lazy mornings and days out together.

socksFootball is due to start properly again this weekend and those rushed Saturday mornings will be back again along with the usual questions of. Where’s your boots? Where’s your shin pads? Have you got your socks on yet and more to the point have I remembered to wash all his/her/their stuff from last weekend?

With the summer holidays just about still going on, I can’t see there being too many kids for training straight away as some will be making the most of the last weekend before they go back to school. Next week though I can see it getting a bit crazy with all last years children excited and giddy to see their friends and kids who they haven’t seen all summer. Then you’ll have the possibility of new kids joining, I feel it could be a tough few weeks for the coaches, but as they have been great ever since I’ve know them I know they’ll be able to cope.

I’ve heard there will be a few weeks of training before the indoor ‘league’ season starts. With our club and others all playing around three 14 minute games in an hour against other clubs from the region. I know our lads will enjoy that now as their competitive edge has well and truly kicked in.

rio2016Onto another quick note before I go, I’d just like to mention how much both our boys enjoyed watching the Olympics this month from Rio. With the Paralympics still to come as well. Letting them see and watch other sports that they have never see before is fantastic. The likes of BMX biking, canoeing, diving, rowing, sailing, volleyball, water polo and many many more. It just gives them other ideas of what other sports and activities are out to do other than football, cricket, rugby and swimming.

Anyway, time to dash. Hope you’ve all had a good summer and roll on September and the Autumn season in a few weeks. Roll on muddy wet mornings with a cheap hot cup of tea to try and keep you warm.
